Changes to Field

Most tournaments on GolfInvestors have their field entered initially on the Friday before the week of the tournament. After that changes to the field are documented in the discussion forum associated with the tournament. This helps users track which players have been removed from and added to the tournament before the tournament starts.

For example, the PODS Championship's discussions forum has the following entries that area associated with the changes to the field.

Where do I look to find my outstanding orders?

To find your outstanding orders on GolfInvestors, you would go to the My Account - Orders page. The My Account - Orders page shows all of your unexecuted orders. You can see the filter on the page to search for any unexecuted order you have in the GolfInvestors system.

Whereas, if you are looking for your orders that have been executed, you would use the My Account - History page.

Access to Gi's Google Analytics Results

Today I posted on the Gi's About - For Advertisers section which tells advertisers that they can get access to Gi's Google Analytics results. I decided to provide access to potential advertisers to Gi's Google Analytics results so potential advertisers can see from a 3rd party what the site traffic is for the Gi web site, be it good or bad results. Site traffic changes day by day, however, honest figures do not lie. I feel honesty is more important than trying to dress figures. [ learn more ]

Twitter

Am going to try out Twitter to see if it is worth it or not to keep updates of what I am doing on GolfInvestors. To following along, my Twitter URL is:

I will try to keep updates updated on Twitter so that it makes it worth it to follow along. Who knows, it might be a waste of time or it might be interesting to follow along. Will find out over the course of the year in 2008.

Elling: Mini-tours "legalized gambling"

I was reading an article today by CBS Sportsline's Steve Elling (formerly with the Orlando Sentinel) about the 2008 rookies on the US PGA Tour [ here is the article ]. While I was reading the article a small sentence caught my eye. He said: mini-tours is a form of "legalized gambling" (under Kevin Streelman's bio).

Elling's premise for saying that playing mini-tours is gambling is because the prize purse is funded almost completely by the player's entry fees.

Is an event that funds the majority of the prize purse with player entry fees gambling?

Screencast on how to export a tournament schedule

Since we have implemented the hCalendar microformat on GolfInvestors, users can now export tournament schedules easily into their own calendar application (i.e. MS Outlook, Google Calendar, Yahoo! Calendar, etc.).

To learn more about how to export a tournament schedule from GolfInvestors, watch the screencast below which shows how to use the FireFox 'Operator' add-on to export the 2008 US PGA Tour tournament schedule.
