'Interesting Note'

Have you ever wondered how much players on the world stage of golf are getting paid to play in aggregate in tournaments each week? We (GolfInvestors) actually posts an 'Interesting Note' along these lines each week after tournaments have finished and earnings distributed.

For example, here is the 'Interesting Note' this week:

"This past week 639 players played 2,006 rounds in 1,429 OVER par (144,843 strokes; 72.20 average per round) in 7 tournaments which distributed $16,232,853 in winnings (averages: $25,404 per player; $8,092 per round; $112 per stroke)."

Wow, those averages are not paid in terms of how much players win on average --- $25,404 per play...oh, yeah. And each time a player hits a ball they earn $112. Getting paid over $100 to hit a golf, nice.

This 'Interesting Note' posted on 2006-10-30 comprises the results of the following tournaments which finished yesterday:

  • Chrysler Championship (US PGA Tour)
  • Volvo Masters Andalucia (European PGA Tour)
  • Miccosukee Championship (Nationwide Tour)
  • KOLON-Hana Bank Championship (US LPGA Tour)
  • ABC Championship (Japan Golf Tour)
  • Charles Schwab Cup Championship (Champions Tour)
  • Dubai Ladies Masters (Ladies European Tour Limited)

The 'Interesting Note' is published each Monday on the main page of the 'Tournaments' section.

Player's Birthdays

As most users on GolfInvestors know, on the main page of the Players section we show and list of players which have their birthdays during the current week. It is shown in the right column of this page in a section on the page called "Birthdays this Week".

However, recently we added the feature on the tournament page which shows which players in the tournament's field are having birthdays. This list is shown on the right column of the tournament main page.

For example, for the recently played Frys.com Open in Las Vegas, the following players had their birthdays during the week of the tournament.

  • James Driscoll, Mon, Oct 9 | 29 years
  • Greg Chalmers, Wed, Oct 11 | 33 years

Neither of these players played well in the tournament. Driscoll shot 70-75 and missed the cut. Chalmers shoot 70-72 and also missed the cut.
