No weekly and monthly change challenges

One of the things that some users have asked for in the simulation stock markets that GolfInvestors run is the ability to have interim challenges, such as weekly and monthly change challenges. These would be where investors could compare the change in their portfolio's Net Asset Value (NAV) with other investors week to week and month to month.

It would be a nice feature to have, and not very difficult to implement on the simulation markets. However, we have not implemented because it is too easy for users to manipulate the share price of a player's stock. Until more users start trading on the simulation markets, it will continue to be too easy for users to move a player's stock one way or the other just before the deadline. Meaning that a user could easily sell 1 share at a very low price just to get their opponents NAV lower or to increase their own NAV if they are selling short at a very low price.

We police and monitor the trading of the markets on a hourly basis. However, we can't catch everything. So the best value of a user's NAV is at the end of the market when the GolfInvestors bank buys back the shares at the earnings per share price for a player.

Until more users start trading on the markets, we will not implement the weekly and monthly challenges on the simulation markets on GolfInvestors.

Another solution for your fix is to participate in the simulation stock markets that are run for individual tournaments. That gives users the ability to see their results for a given week.

In any event, invite more friends to trade on the simulation markets and then I will get the interim challenges feature implemented.

Why run simulation markets on GolfInvestors?

Some users have asked why we run simulation stock markets on GolfInvestors when we are trying to be a real stock market environment. Just so everyone is clear, the simulation markets, as opposed to the real stock markets on GolfInvestors, are like fantasy games.

There are several reasons why we run simulation markets on GolfInvestors.

1. Feedback

By running simulation markets we are able to develop the technology and the features and test them with real users via the simulation markets. This provides us with invaluable data in which to improve the GolfInvestors system. User actions are much more important than user words, as many times what users say they will do differs from what they actually do.

2. More Users

By running simulation markets we are able to attract more users...users which would not normally come to an investor or stock market site. The more users we have, be it investors or golfers, the more known GolfInvestors becomes. The more known GolfInvestors becomes, the more trust we earn with the general public. The more trust we earn with the general public, the less fear people will have to use the GolfInvestors system. The less fear people have in using the GolfInvestors system, the more useful the system becomes to investors and golfers.

3. Test Market

Golfers can utilize the simulation markets to perform test offerings. These test offerings can test the waters with investors to see how warm investors will be to an idea of the player doing a real offering.
