Joe Duffy's Diary : March 24, 2001
4:55 pm - Decision made. It is a good time to purchase Els' stock.
I decide to purchase 1,000 shares of ERELS at $15. To submit my order, I go
to the My Account - Buy/Sell page and enter
in the details of purchasing 1,000 shares of ERELS at a $15 per share limit
price on the 2001 PGA Season Market.
Once I have the form filled out, I press the submit button and am presented
with a summary of my order so I can then confirm this is the order I want to
submit to the market. Sure enough, I confirm the order and my order is successfully
submitted to the trading floor of the 2001 PGA Season Market.
I then go to the My Account - Orders page
to see if the order has really been submitted to the market. Sure enough, it
is in the list, which means it has been submitted to the market but has not
been executed yet. The order was a limit order, so I will need to wait to see
if there is a matching order from another investor on the market before the
order can be executed.
5:15 PM - I check the order on the My Account - Orders
page again. The order is no longer in the list. This means the order has been
executed. So I go to the My Account - History
page. On this page I see the status of the order shows it has been executed.
So another investor has wanted to sell 1,000 shares of ERELS at $15 per share.
Yeah. Now I own 1,000 shares of Ernie Els.
I go to the My Account - Profile page to
see how it
Boy it would have been nice to have an email sent to me when the order was
executed. Maybe GI has this feature. I goto the My Account - Preferences page
to see if this is an option. Sure enough, it is. I check the box called "Receive
email when an order is executed".
That is all for me today on GI. I need to go eat dinner.
